SAGA - AmeriCorps in Alaska

Which Corps Is Right For You?

Although ASC and SAYC may seem interchangeable at first glance, they are two very distinct Corps that do similar work in order to achieve different goals.

The Alaska Service Corps is dedicated to providing services for our project sponsors throughout Alaska, while providing meaningful experiences to our committed Corps members. On the other hand, the Serve Alaska Youth Corps members are all young Alaskan residents whom receive job training and education while completing conservation and public safety based projects. Although both Corps function similarly, ASC is more focused on improving the public lands of Alaska, while SAYC includes more time for member development and job training, as well as having stricter age restrictions for their Corps member positions.

Please note that the positions described above are all AmeriCorps positions, and that successful completion of the specific 450-, 675-, or 900-hour terms will earn the Corps members an education award, which varies in amount depending on term length.
